Who we want to hire: 

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial problem solver to fill our newly created Senior Vice President of Global Sales position here at Material Exchange. Join an ambitious international sales team on our journey toward a more sustainable fashion industry! 

 

As Senior Vice President of Global Sales (SVP of Global Sales), you oversee all sales operations at Material Exchange, and align the sales organization’s objectives with the business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting. As SVP, you are responsible for monitoring sales performance, ensuring that the sales results meet the targets. The SVP collaborates and coordinates with the CRO and sales leads (VP’s) in different territories to increase revenues and profitability. In your role, you will serve as a key advisor, helping the industry stakeholders internally and externally transform to a digital, transparent, sustainable, and more efficient business. 

 

Who you are:  

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of leading sales teams in fashion retailers and marketplaces  
  • Experience developing, managing, and selling textiles directly and have channel experience a plus 
  • Industry experience of digital transformation and sourcing for Footwear, Apparel, and Materials Management knowledge and network are a plus 
  • Fluent in English and preferably another European language 
  • Good network of footwear and apparel brands and an interest in being a hero for the planet through sustainability 
  • International travel is needed

You need to be able to work independently and know how to use the necessary information technology. 

 

Leadership skills: A results-oriented, motivating leader and natural team player; strengths-based personnel development; good judgment and discernment in decision-making and handling simultaneous projects; understand the buying journey and Material Exchange revenue model; be a good listener. Effective communication is vital, as you will be coordinating with supervisors, co-workers, customers (brands), suppliers, agents, and others. 

 

Administrative skills: Effectively prepare and then share plans, challenges, progress, and results; experience developing presentations; communication with other team members regarding marketing needs and opportunities; ability to identify and communicate process improvements; attention to detail so others can follow progress; work within budget parameters  

 

Technical skills: Salesforce or other CRM experience; experience with project management software; must have experience in sales pipeline, forecasting, and evaluation.  

 

 

More about what you will be doing: 

 

  • Build, grow, and lead the sales team globally. Lead by example with a leadership 2.0 style. Lead the global sales team in new customer acquisition and growth in existing accounts. 
  • Develop strategies that will exceed company goals.  
  • Drive sales growth through acquisitions, organic growth, and expansion into new territories by developing more supplier and brand relationships. 
  • Set, measure, and evaluate both progress and results in sales territory quotas, profit metrics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Achieve high accuracy in meeting forecast projections.  
  • Create and drive detailed monthly and quarterly business plans to attain predetermined goals and quotas across sales territories.  
  • Manage risk by establishing growth agility, flexibility, and diversity in sourcing material types, country of origin, and number of suppliers.  
  • Stay current with company offerings, emerging opportunities, market conversations, potential competition, and industry trends. Keep an extra eye on changing market conditions that can impact sales such as change in regulations, cotton and oil prices, recessions, etc. 
  • Encourage and follow-up usage of the CRM as well as the Material Exchange platform. Achieving sales efficiency using the Material Exchange technology platform is a must. Manage sales cycle effectively and track activity in CRM. 
  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients and partners by understanding the focus and needs and anticipating them in advance. Respond to complaints and resolve issues together with the Customer Experience team to ensure customer’s satisfaction and maintain the company’s reputation.
